Our Wedding |
| On Saturday the 5th of October 2002 we were married and off coarse this was a wonderful day for us. Not only because we were married, but on this special day we made it something special. Underneath is a short story from us about our own experience about this day and off coarse several Maltese were invited. Because dogs and bosses were coming all over the Netherlands with a lot of travelling time we arranged a bus with coffee and toilet so | |
| when they arrived at our home they could rest and wait what would happen that day. Can you imaging all those dogs and there bosses in the bus? At first the bus driver he fell from his chair, but eventually he said to all the owners: 'they are lovely and beautiful dogs, and don't break anything". This is something that we as owners already know. |
Short impression of the wedding day |
| Saturday 08:00, I've slept at my parents home, if you can call it sleeping. All my things are laying ready on the bed thanks to my mother. I quickly dressed myself and at 09:00 I'm ready but still have to wait till 11:00. At this time the wedding car will arrive. Damn I didn't knew that waiting could take such a long time, but finally it was eleven and the driver arrived. We had to take the car to the flower store to decorate the car and bus and to fetch the wedding-bouquet. When we arrived the bus was just ready and was going to our home to get the people with their Maltese. |
| Unfortunately it was a raining that day and I hoped the bus would hurry to pick up those people as soon as possible, so they were dry and could take some coffee. After the wedding car was ready I could fetch my bride at the twentehof were we live. The closer we got to our home my nervousness grew bigger and bigger. How would she look like, I was getting curious, but we were almost there. | |
| I had to be there at exactly 12:00 and right on time we arrived there. Unfortunately Germie wasn't ready because there were some troubles that morning which had delayed her a little. The people with Maltese couldn't get in the bus because the bus driver wasn't told about the dogs. After a short discussing with the driver the people finally got in the bus and I could fetch my future bride. But still not ready. To shorten my waiting time I helped the people to obtain the Maltese and everyone there corsages and could take a cop of coffee by our neighbours. Finally she was ready and she opened the front door......., she looked great, adorable and beautiful. I hadn't expected this dress but she looked dazzling. Germie was a little bit nervous because of the troubles that morning with the bus driver and I could notice it very well. A quick kiss and hug and she began to calm down. After getting in the wedding car her nervousness was completely gone. After all the people were in the bus or their own cars we could go. A little bit late but finally we were at the castle of our hometown Helmond were we would be married. In earlier discussion with the officer we knew that the dogs were not allowed in the castle because of some misunderstanding in the history of the castle. But to our both expectations they were all inside. That was our first surprise. Now we had to wait before the ceremony could start because Queeny our own Maltese was left behind with de car driver and someone had to get her. The master of ceremonies got her and placed her on the table in front of us. Happily the officer was a dog lover and he didn't mind what all those dogs and started the marriage. |
| The official wedding was funny and serious and many laughed at the things the officer was telling. At 13:00 we were married and my wife and I could go outside. First we made some pictures inside the castle and in the mean time everyone was standing outside and waiting for us. It was a beautiful sight to see a row of people and Maltese dogs on that bridge. All barking while we entered. As if they knew. While we were walking trough the lane a lot of rice was thrown over us and we were glad that we've ended the lane. | |
| Later that night in bed we still had some rice in our underwear. After another photographic shots with the photographer we had to hurry to the chapel were we would be married for church. The guests already had arrived and were waiting for us. Another beautiful sight when entering the chapel. Every Maltese was quit and staring at us as if they knew what was going on. Unfortunately trough they enormous amount of people and bad whether not everyone could go inside the chapel, but this was told to us afterwards. At that time we could see that. The chapel was a little bit small for they amount of people. Happily the pastor was there. He had given my wife a lot of sleepless nights. Sometimes he forgot our appointments and even couldn't remember our names when visiting him. But now he was there and on time. |
| pppffff what a relief. During the mass no dog barked only at one certain moment. Everyone know this when a priest starts preaching take your time and relaxed. But after the bark he stopped quickly. During the ceremony we got our wedding-rings which we had especially made for this day. We are very proud of them and they look great, don't you think? After the ceremony we symbolically let go two pigeons for luck and now we were official man and wife for state and church. | |
| After the congratulations from everyone we could go to hall Visser were the party would take place. After everyone was in the bus or there own car we went to hall Visser were the true dog party could start. The owner had organised it very well and nobody was shorten on anything, food, drinks even ice-cream for children. They even liked it when several dogs were posing themselves on the dance floor. Around five thirty dinner was served with tree refreshments bars (Italian, Chinese and Dutch food, especially for the kids chips). All this time the singer Rene Jansen entertained the people with music. And that men could sing you had to hear it yourself, even people in the chapel got flesh-creeps from his beautiful voice. During the party we finally could talk to people, make pictures and hug all the Maltese which were available. Some kids went on the dance floor with there dogs and pretended they were actually on a dog show and showed their Maltese Dogs to us. Unhappily after dinner the dog party ended very quickly at seven thirty. The bus was waiting for everyone to bring them back to their vehicles. This happened a little bit fast for us but at eight o'clock that evening the other guests would arrive and the owners had to fix everything for the night. We only had one wish left: make one last photo with all the Maltese and their owners. |

|
| This unique picture is very worthy to us. Unfortunately the time flew and the afternoon ended very quickly. Germie shouted "No, you can't go" but the people of hall Vissers had to organize the room for the evening party. And the band already arrived, so we had to say goodbye to the whole group. After kisses and hugs we could prepare us for the evening party and had some time to eat. But not for long because at 20:30 the evening guests were standing ready for us. After a enjoyable night with lots of dancing, music, food and off coarse drinks the party ended at 01:00. After giving the thank you presents to our guests we went home. When we arrived we saw a great white sheet hanging on our front door with the usual textures. That night we looked at all the presents, counted the given money and read all the letters. About 07:30 we read them all and finally were getting very sleepy. Tired, satisfied but still enjoying the whole day we're laying in our bed as man and wife. With a smile on our faces we finally fell asleep and could still enjoy in our dreams what happened that day. |
